What foods should I avoid with my corn allergy?

veggiemom07 asked:

I have been having allergies to corn and tested positive on my allergy test. I also tested positive for grass. I am now having allergy symptoms when I eat oat meal and any other products that contain oats.

What other foods may be related to corn? I already have a 4 page list of corn and corn byproducts so I am looking for other foods in the corn/grass family.

Thanks for your help!

No corn nuts, corn pops, captain crunch, corn tortilla, nachos, pop corn, tamales, tacos, no other food that came in contact with corn, nothing cooked in corn oil, nothing with high fructose corn syrup as an ingredient, etc., and definitely no cheating. Stay away from the smell as well so no movie theater for you. Unless you rub a scented lotion your not allergic to around your nose and mouth and a wet cloth and hold it over your nose. The grass thing I am not allergic to so I am not sure. But just stay away from the smell of fresh cut grass. Good Luck and don’t underestimate it. Don’t tell everyone because someone that doesn’t like you may use it to hurt you. It *****!

Hi. I suggest you visit the Yahoo Groups “foodallergynetwork”. THere are a few ppl on there who are allergic to corn (I think one of them is named Donnie, I’m not sure.) but just join and post a message about needing info and they’ll be glad to help you. I am gluten free, not corn free so I can’t help you to much myself!
    Best of luck, Amy

    Hi
You should go to the Doctors, you could be a Coeliac, which means you could be allergic to gluten, rye, wheat, barley, and oats, your Doctor will refer you to the Hospital, you will need to have a blood test and have a small biopsy taken from your intestines (you are asleep),and see a Dietician who will help you on all the foods you can eat,
Did you have this test done at your doctor’s, because if you didn’t, sometimes they can be wrong, Being a coeliac is very difficult, you have to read all the labels when food shopping,If I were you I would eat home cooked food, fish, chicken, meat, and vegetables,be careful with gravy, look out for,Bisto best gravy granules, they are gluten free, beef, chicken, onion, pork & vegetable, they all start with roast,Heinz produce are mostly gluten free,
    Go to your Doctors A.S.A.P.
    Good Luck
